flict since the American Revolution (1). Roles for women in the military have diversified over time, and many current female service members are achieving top ranks in all branches of the military. Many have undergone prolonged military deployment with war zone exposure, and increasing numbers of women are serving in combat. At the conclusion of their military service, they transition back into their communities as Veterans (see Box 1). With their service and sacrifice come unique health care needs (2, 3). Health care providers have an opportunity and responsibility to appropriately address the needs of women in the military and women Veterans. The goal of this document is to increase awareness about women in the military and women Veterans and describe special considerations regarding their reproductive health care needs.
